Xylella fastidiosa Pathogen Detection Kits Xylella fastidiosa is an Gram-negative bacteria and is transmitted by xylem fluid feeding sap insects. Diseases related with X. fastidiosa are bacterial leaf scorch, oleander leaf scorch, coffee leaf scorch (CLS), alfalfa dwarf, phony peach disease, and the economically important Pierce’s disease of grapes (PD) , citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC) and olive quick decline syndrome (OQDS) in Europe. X. fastidiosa is currently regulated in the EU as a quarantine organism. Pathogenicity of the bacterium only occurs when a large proportion of xylem vessels in a plant are colonized thus many plants are asymptomatic carriers of X. fastidiosa, which can contribute to its spread.
