SNV Detection Kits Sin Nombre Virus (SNV) is a zoonotic pathogen responsible for Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome (HCPS), a severe respiratory disease characterized by respiratory failure and cardiogenic shock. HCPS progresses swiftly and has a significant fatality rate of 35-40%. SNV is carried by deer mice, and the primary means of human infection is through accidental exposure to the virus found in contaminated animal excreta and/or secreta. Pathogen emergence has been linked to climate, season, vegetation growth, and increased precipitation. Although vaccines have been formulated and tested, there are currently no treatments or approved vaccines for HCPS.
