Raychem SCL (TM) • SCL tubes are semi-rigid heat-shrinkable tubes that melt inside walls. Various electrical components such as wire splices, breakouts, and electronic components can be enclosed in one step to ensure moisture resistance.
The crosslinked polyolefin produced by electron beam irradiation shrinks when the outer wall is heated above 135°C, and the inner wall that melts at 100°C shrinks outside the tube and flows into cracks and crevices.
As it cools, the entire cover becomes a rigid and strong uniform cover, and the coating thickness remains constant.
The SCL (R) shrinks to 17~40% of its original diameter in terms of size. Therefore, several sizes are required to cover special shapes of different dimensions.
It is not affected by most solvents and chemicals, and is not corrosive when it comes in contact with the joints of electrical components. SCL also has high insulation resistance (240 -410 kV/cm depending on the coating thickness).
